There’s Big Value in Small Businesses

Richard Branson once said, “A big business starts out small.” His statement undoubtedly was intended to inspire but, between the lines, it also seems to imply that everyone’s goal is to be a “big business.” At Street Level Studio, we respectfully disagree. There’s a great deal of inherent worth in starting and sustaining a small business that delivers “big” on its mission.

There’s also incredible value. According to the Small Business Administration, there are 30.2 million small businesses in the US employing 58.9 million employees. These businesses create about two out of every three new jobs each year and are responsible for more than 50 percent of all US sales.

Right now, more than half of Americans either own or work for a small enterprise that’s contributing to both the local community and the national economy. And many of them are at the forefront of innovation, developing smarter, faster, better ways to keep the country competitive into the future.

And it’s not easy. As a small business, Street Level Studio is aware of the struggles and challenges similar enterprises face every day, from finding talent (and sufficient hours in the day) to jumping over financial hurdles. Or convincing prospective clients that, even though you’re small, you have the goods (expertise, experience, skills, bandwidth, output, merchandise, etc.) to perform big and exceed their expectations. Because you do, and you keep doing it.

So, during National Small Business Week 2019, May 5 – 11, Street Level Studio salutes the grit, determination, and accomplishments of our fellow entrepreneurs and extends them a heartfelt offer of support. We’re driven to help companies of all sizes get noticed, grow sales, build foot traffic, boost page views—whatever their goals. That’s something we’re proud of every week of the year.
